Lundin Bowling Club Achieve Club Fife Gold Star Status

Lundin Bowling Club have become the first sports club in Fife to achieve Gold Star status.  Club Fife gold star award is the top club accreditation status provided by Fife Council Sports Development.  The accreditation process involves an in-depth review of all aspects of the club including, participation, welfare, community links and governance.

Michael Kavanagh, Sports Development Officer said "Lundin Bowling Club have merited this award through their great enthusiasm and organisation to look at their club over the past few years and improve on aspects that would make a great difference to the club.  They have worked hard to make the club an essential part of the community offering the opportunity for people of all ages, young and old to participate in regular physical activity in a fantastic welcoming atmosphere.  This is evident through their remarkable increase in membership.  This year alone the club have welcomed 47 new members"

The club received their award at their annual members forum on 19th August.  John Love, Club President, received the award on behalf of the club.  John remarked, "We are delighted to receive this award.  We feel proud to have reversed the trend in declining participation in bowls and now are a focus club for Bowls Scotland, who have highlighted the clubs achievements nationally.  Our work in attracting a large number of juniors is extremely pleasing as well as increasing the number of adults that now participating on a social and competitive basis.  The club continues to work to improve and be an important part of the community.  We are pleased also to announce a partnership with campion homes, the well known Fife based home builder, who will be clubs main sponsor.

333 Challenge 2016

The 333 Challenge was run for the third year on Sunday 17th September 2016. Once again children and coaches from Lundin and Buckhaven Bowling Clubs competed for the 333 Trophy. The format had to be changed as Crail were, unfortunately, unable to participate. Teams of three played 3 bowl triples matches of five ends. The winners in each section played in a final.

The final between Buckhaven and Lundin was a close match with Buckhaven emerging successful. The winning team were Emma, Amy and Peter with the runner up team coming from Lundin: David, Joe and Danielle.

Congratulations to all the teams taking part in another very successful junior event.
