OUR FAQ's
Email our secretary on s(secretarylundinbowling@gmail.com)ecretarylundinbowling@gmail.com. (secretarylundinbowling@gmail.com) We have Open Days each year in early May when we welcome visitors and explain how the Club operates and see the facilities. There is an opportunity to try bowling for a short time and complete the membership form and join. Notices are posted on the website and a banner is fixed to the fencing notifying the dates of our Open Days.
The annual subscription is £120 for 2025. Fees should be paid before the Opening of the Green if participating and before the end of April. A reduction of 50% is offered to new members in their first year. The annual subscription is reviewed at the Annual General Meeting.

Friday evening is fun night when all members have a weekly “hat” night (nothing to do with wearing a hat!), or sometimes referred to as “bounce” night, providing a chance to socialize our on the green and in the bar afterwards. This starts at 6 p.m. and is often followed by entertainment in the clubhouse afterwards.
All new members will be warmly received. With matches throughout the week, there are many opportunities to play and then join with other members in the Clubhouse afterwards for a well-deserved refreshment and brag about your prowess on the green. This gives you many opportunities to meet new friends.
We have “rink booking” on our website. This indicates when maintenance or matches are taking place. There is no need to book a rink. Only matches and ties have to book a rink. It is often wise to check the rink bookings before popping down for a game. See details below in the next Q&A.
Rink rotation is essential to avoid excessive wear to the rinks. The rotation order for a day’s play is displayed in the Changing Rooms, above the mats. That order MUST be followed and is to be read from left to right. If a rink number is not displayed, then that rink is closed and NOT available for play.
The first priority is appropriate footwear – flat-soled soft shoes preferably with a non-slip sole. Footwear for the green should not be worn outside the grounds.
For Opening and Closing of the Green, matches and club finales we wear black trousers and a club shirt. A plain white shirt is fine for new members. Other times wear comfortable clothing.
The Opening of the Green is the first day of play. The Closing of the Green is the last day of play.
On both the Opening and Closing of the Green all members are invited to play. The days start with a fun “spider”, then a friendly competition is played. Names are picked at random.
The Opening and Closing of the Green are followed by food, results of play and a raffle. Players generally sit at the tables numbered in accordance with the rink they have played on.
The jack is placed in the centre of the bowling green. All bowlers line up around the outer edges around the green. On a signal each bowler launches one bowl trying to get close to the jack. Chaos prevails!
The Club is open all year. However, bowling on the green is open from end of April to end of September.
